Playstation 3 vs XBOX360 vs Nintendo Wii

The next generation consoles are here: Playstation 3, XBOX360 and Nintendo Wii. Which one is going to win the next-gen war?

The XBOX360 had the advantage of an early release, and is still doing really well in the market, having a 3.2GHZ IBM PowerPC tri-core processor and a 500MHZ GPU, the console is mainly attractive do it's powerful running speeds, fast-paced online action and mind-blowing graphics.

Plus the console is moderate in pricing: it costs $299.99 for a core system, and $399.99 for a premium system. The cost for one of these is well in between the Playstation 3's horribly expensive price, and the Wii's cute cheapness.

One main bad point about the 360, is that because it does not contain a processor from the original Xbox, it cannot play original Xbox games without additional emulation software from the Internet.

Now to the Playstation 3:-

The Playstation 3 is highly expensive, but unfortunately for us Europeans and the Australians, we cannot grab ours until March 2007. So much for a Christmas present....

But for the money it comes at ($499.99 for 20gb and $599.99 for 60gb) the Playstation 3 might be worth it, with the new Sixaxis controller and Blu-Ray drive, it will appeal to some as an entertainment system.

The Playstation 3 contains a Cell Broadband Engine (3.2GHZ) IBM Power-based CPU is almost equal to that of the XBOX360, and the more powerful 550MHZ RSX GPU (based on NVIDIA G70) gives gamers an almost real-life experience! Perfect hardware for Racing and FPS games.

Playstation 3 is highly compatible with the Playstation Portable (PSP) and is often used in games as a controller, once it has been used in a racing game as a rear-view mirror.

Playstation 3 is also compatible with most Playstation and Playstation 2 titles, and future firmware updates will provide more compatibility.

Finally, to the Nintendo Wii:-

The Nintendo Wii is the most unusual console out of the three, and is the one I shall be getting for Christmas this year.

It has a IBM Broadway processor and a ATI Hollywood GPU. It is not as powerful as the XBOX360 or the Playstation 3, but the Wii's unique game play and controller makes all the difference.

Being able to use the controller as anything from a sword, to a baseball bat, even to a steering wheel makes games active, and can even be a form of exercise.

Plus, Nintendo has got a lot of killer-applications on it's side, such as Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Pokémon Battle Revolution.

To top it all off, Nintendo Wii is backwards compatible with Nintendo GameCube, can connect via wireless link to a Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite and download Nintendo 64, Super Nintendo, NES, Sega Mega-Drive (Genesis) and TurboGrafx-16 games for a small price, then keep them and play them on your console!

So what do you want? The expensive yet powerful Playstation 3? Or perhaps you want the average priced and powerful XBOX360, or do you want the cheap, unique and highly-backward-compatible Nintendo Wii?

Sony 40G PS3 - Play Station 3

First thing first, before you are going to buy a 40G PS3, one thing you should know: If you play your old PS2 games, you may need to buy a 60G model PS3 or 80G model PS3.

Remember, this 40G PS3 have not backwards compatibility! You can not play your PS2 games in this 40G PS3. (I did not do my home work before I bought this 40G PS3, so my PS2 games are still in the dusty now)

OK, now, back to the topic,

I bought this Sony 40G PS3, because I want to watch Blu-ray movies in my Sony 40 inch LCD (1080i) HDTV. And I knew that the PS3 has a built-in Blu-ray player (I believe that a lot of people buy this PS3 because of the built-in Blu-ray player). One day, when my brother told me that he bought a 40G Play Station 3 from Circuit city with price $399 (it was on sale), and he told me how 'cool' his play station 3 is, so, I just bought this 40G play station 3 ( the package include a 'Spider-man 3' Blu-ray Disc ).

This 40G play station 3 has HDMI compatible, which means that I can use this 40G play station 3 to watch all High-Definition movies in my Sony 40 inch LCD (1080i) HDTV and my new Gateway 24 inch LCD HD monitor. (Another two famous game system, Wii does not have High-Definition player, and xbox360 needs to pay extra $170 to get a HD-DVD player). However, this 40G model PS3 did not include HDMI, so I had to spend $6 to buy one HDMI cable from amazon.com.

This Sony 40G PS3 has the build in wireless ability to connect to the internet and access is free. I can use Windows Media as a media server to share files thought the wireless from my PC to this 40G PS3 (there are a lot of movies in the YouTube to show you how to share your PC files with your PS3 ).

This Sony 40G PS3 includes one wireless controller (It is very nice; personally, I really hate to have a mass wires everywhere). If you want to play a 2 player game with your friend at same time, you need to buy another wireless controller (around $49 in the Circuit city).

This Sony 40G PS3 does not include a remote controller (just like a TV remote, see the above picture), so I had to buy a remote with $28 from amazon.com. I used this 40G PS3 to watch Blu-ray movies, and my baby's pictures through my Sony 40 inch LCD HDTV. The High-Definition makes the graphics are really amazing!!! I highly recommend people to buy a HDMI cable for your PS3. Using the HDMI cable can really tell you the different between a normal and High-Definition quality. Now, I use the remote to operate this 40G PS3 just like to remote a TV. My 40G PS3 is a multimedia center...

When I play Motor Storm PS3 game (I bought a used one $25 from amazon.com). It is so cool, the game looks so real.

One problem you may need concern, this 40G play station 3 is running little bit hot after 40 minutes, and little bit slowly to load game (over my original expect).

Over all, this 40G PS3 is fantastic, and I am really enjoying this 40G PS3. It worth my every penny!

This 40G PS3 is running hot (no other problem yet) after 30 minutes, I think that I need to buy a cooler for this baby.

Emulators For PSP

I've owned a PSP for a few years now and personally I think its the best gaming machine there is. It plays great games as well as being a multi media device playing music and video. Hell it even has internet. Now until recently I just went along to the shop and brought my games and away I went until a new game came out and then I went and brought that as well. Spending hundreds of dollars on all the top games ( I always want the latest games).

Well a few months ago I realized I had been seriously missing out. I came across some EMULATOR SOFTWARE for my PSP and boy can you have some fun with that. Just imagine the fun I've been having, I download loaded some classic games like Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Using emulator software on your PSP can be a little tricky and if you don't no what your doing you can get into a little trouble. OK so first of all it seems pretty obvious but your going to need some emulator software for your PSP, now this can be found many places over the internet but you must be careful. Only get the software from a place you can trust. Where's that I here you say. Read on below and I'll let you know where I got mine (great trustworthy source).

So when you have your emulator software you will need to check the firmware version of your PSP. Some later firmware versions will not allow you to use emulator software but there is no need to panic because there are ways to downgrade your PSP's firmware. So basically speaking every PSP can use emulator software just some easier than others.

Once the emulator software is up and running you will need to find some games to use with it, game files used with emulator software are called ROMS.

You basically have a few choices. You can go the free route now this is where you have to beware, free is not always better, sometimes the software doesn't work, its slow or even filled with virus's.... so a word of warning, software from an unknown source can render your PSP useless.

Now there are also membership sites and again you have to do your homework because there are good membership sites and bad membership sites. .

Now a great membership site will have great customer service, you will be able to contact them by email or phone. They will have thousands of satisfied customers. Everything will be explained with step by step guides. They will have downgrading software as well as emulator software.

I've been a member of this great site for a few months now and wait for it they have 20 million files to download. games, music, themes, backgrounds and a whole lot more. over 20,000 great games. I've been having a great time looking at all the game they have. It really is worth a look.
